‘Music for Refugees’ – a Fantastic Evening

imageThe Globe in Hay was the place to be for Saturday night’s fundraising concert.

First and foremost, thanks to all our musicians and singers – an eclectic and brilliant mix. We had Tomasin, Claire Annette and friends – Angharad and Mitzi, Jake Hughes, Bushfold Blue, Catherine Kraemer and Nigel, and The Blackhill Voices, directed by Rhiannon Taylor. The grand finale had Catherine singing the wonderful rousing Welsh National Anthem, Hen Wlad Fy Nhadau, with the full support of the Blackhill Voices and everyone in the audience who knew it… Sean did the John Redwood version.

the-globeMany thanks to The Globe for hosting us, and to young Isla, who tattooed people with her ink stamp when they paid their entrance fee, ably assisted by her grandmother, Christina.

The money bit… we raised £642.00 for our funds, and a young man came up to Ailsa during the show with an incredibly generous donation of £83.00, which he said he would like to go to overseas refugees, perhaps those who are in transit – we will discuss further whether to send this to Anna May or charities still supporting people dispersed from the Calais camp. Thank you to everybody that supported the evening!
