Donations and Help Needed for Welcome Packs

Closing date: Monday 14th December.

We are coordinating the collection of items to go into welcome packs that can be given to newly arrived people in need of refuge who are entering accommodation in Swansea.

We are very grateful for all donations and any offers of help with any or all aspects of sorting, packing, storing and delivering. We have had a number of kind offers but we still need more.

We are aiming to make up 6 of each pack.  Please find below a comprehensive list of items needed.

ITEMS NEEDED…

Not everyone can take on the responsibility of looking after a refugee family, but your family or group may choose to help in another way. Often all the belongings of people seeking refuge will fit into one small bag. You can help them start to rebuild their home here in their new country by putting together a “welcome box” from one of the following categories. We ask that all items are in either new or “gently used” condition.

You don’t need to make up a whole box as we can combine donations into a box.

KITCHEN BOX

  • Dishes – dinner plates, bowls, side plates for 6
  • Cups / mugs for 6
  • Drinking glasses for 6
  • Oven cloth
  • Knives, forks, spoons for at least 6
  • Cutlery container
  • Frying pan, saucepans various sizes, at least 2
  • 1-2 glass or ceramic baking dishes
  • 1 set of kitchen knives (1 carving, 1 paring)
  • 1 cutting board
  • 3 serving/ mixing bowls
  • 1 spatula
  • 2 wooden spoons or equivalent
  • 1 dish drying rack
  • 1 can opener
  • 1 waste bin

BEDROOM BOX                                   

  • 1 set double sheets
  • 2 sets single sheets
  • 4 pillowcases
  • 3/4 blankets or duvets
  • 4 pillows
  • 1 alarm clock
  • 1 waste paper basket
  • 1 waste bin
  • Hangers
  • Laundry basket

BATHROOM BOX

  • 4 bath towels
  • 4 hand towels
  • 4 flannels
  • 4 rolls toilet paper
  • 1 shower curtain and rings
  • 1 bath mat
  • 1 first aid kit

CLEANING BOX

  • 1 mop
  • 1 broom
  • 1 dustpan/brush
  • 1 bucket
  • 1 pack sponges
  • 1 bottle all-purpose cleaner
  • 1 toilet brush
  • 1 washing up liquid
  • pack of paper towels
  • 2 boxes tissues
  • 1 bottle/box washing powder
  • 1 roll of bin liners

SCHOOL BOX

  • 2 notebooks
  • 1 binder
  • 1 pack loose leaf paper
  • 1 box of pencils
  • 1 pencil sharpener
  • 1 box of pens
  • 1 ruler
  • 1 calculator
