Short book tour In May 2025

Brecon-based author and cook Gail Sequeira agreed to visit seven local schools to talk about her two books published in April 2025. One is a fabulous children’s book, “The Street Food Festival”. When the school’s lovely walled garden is under threat, it’s time for Mr Thomas’ Gardening Club to take action! The Street Food Festival is organised as a community event, to raise money. Children source recipes from their families’ cultures and use the products that they have grown in the garden to create street foods from all over the world. This is a feel-good story about a group of children from different backgrounds united by a love of their school garden and includes 10 delicious recipes from diverse cultures. The other book ‘We Are Wales’ is a compilation of writings by 3 Welsh authors including Gail with stories about belonging, diversity and inclusion.

At each school that she visited, Gail talked about her own journey to Wales and about the two books with a short reading by Ailsa from The Street Food Festival. The visits were much enjoyed by pupils who asked many questions and each school was given a copy of the books purchased with a grant from The Gibbs Family Trust .

Photos show Gail in action at a variety of schools and then with a copy of her book at one of the local sales points.
