Hay Festival and fund raising 2024

Another busy week of trying to raise  the profile of the group, sell raffle tickets, raise money and chat about seeking sanctuary with all the delightful people who stopped on their way to or from the Festival site.   Thanks to Richard for the loan of his house frontage  for our stall, to Emily and John at Hay Market for agreement for us to have space to sell tickets at the Thursday Market, to Jason the sock stall for giving us space and to Hay Festival to giving us permission to collect after 2 talks. Hay Festival is our busy time and the lovely people who visit Hay  are always supportive.

Mike Claire and Rowland Busy on the stall.

All this activity  was only possible  because of Virginia, Judith, Janet, Jon, Kumari, Sue R, Claire, Lis, Liz, Sally, Rowland, Mike, Karen, Sharon, Margaret Mc, Margaret and Pat, Val T, Lynne, Philip, Sue D, Sean, Neil, Ailsa and Lawrence. And also to our Secret bucket collecting weapons:- Darcy, Eden, Beau, Cian and Alfred!  Thanks also to Hawkar who came to help on the stall  immediately after completing his second year pharmacy exams.

they may say to avoid acting with children or animals but undoubtedly its good to collect money with children involved!

There was also an opportunity to catch up briefly with Hazle of Unity in Diversity Swansea and for Michael our local sanctuary seeking man. to spend some time acting as Steward and also thanks to Hay Festival and Billie Charity , he was able  to gain  insight into the photography of the event.

A final thanks is due to Maryna whose amazing fruit sorbets and freshly squeezed orange juice were much enjoyed and a big incentive for our younger helpers!

We raised around £3000 which will ensure that we can run our welcome day programme for the next 6 months.

THANKS HAY FESTIVAL AND TO ALL OUR HELPERS DURING THE WEEK.
