Open Public Meeting

Open Meeting Poster can be downloaded .

HBTSR are planning an open meeting for anyone who is interested in hearing more about our group. This is on 15th April at St Mary’s Church in Brecon at 6.30. We have sent invitations to all local community councils, all local County Councillors , To our MS/AM and regional MS/ AMs our MP and other candidates in other parties, to  many local churches  and to Schools who are planning to become Schools of Sanctuary and a number of other groupings.  However,  this is a public meeting and open to all  to attend.

The meeting is an opportunity to hear Sian Summers-Rees, CEO of City of Sanctuary talk about Wales Nation of Sanctuary, to catch up on our activities and to hear Sweeta Durrani talk about her experiences.

Sweeta is an award winning Afghan born businesswoman who now resides in the United Kingdom. As a businesswoman in Afghanistan, she won The UK Ambassador to Afghanistan Award for Business activities as an Afghan woman, Peace through Business program Award and Thunderbird Global Management Ten Thousand Women. All these awards were for excellence in business as the founder of Hariwa Jewellery Company and Jalvaghadarchin Coffee shop for women. Both of these businesses had a social outreach arm which empowered women.Sadly Sweeta was forced to seek asylum in the UK about 6 years ago  and then spent considerable  time seeking family re-unification. Her story is inspiring.

We have also formulated a list of some of theplaces, groups and people that we’d like to thank for support given over the 4 years since we last had a public meeting and will present certificates to them. There are of course very many people without whose support we’d not be able to achieve anything.
