We have had another successful away day with two Syrian families visiting Llangenny transported by our volunteers as well as volunteers from Unity in Diversity.
The day was hosted by Clare and many members of the village came to welcome, feed, walk with, talk and play with the children. Some of the volunteers that attended also spoke Arabic. Everybody had a wonderful time in the sunshine, the food was delicious and more than plentiful! When the group sat down for the superb lunch in the beautiful village hall, it was like everyone was one very big, happy family.
The Unity in Diversity group will now know of Llangenny as Cerys gave Wayne a ‘Welcome to Llangenny’ cake that she had made to share with people who were not able to attend!
A note from Wayne, the Unity in Diversity Coordinator (a volunteer role): “Many thanks to Cerys, Hay, Brecon and Talgarth Sanctuary for Refugees and all the wonderfully kind folks at Llangenny for the stunning away-day activities last Sunday. The families you made so welcome had a fantastic time. The difference you made to those children’s lives (and their parents) was clear and incredibly heart-warming. The cake was delicious Cerys, thanks from those who enjoyed it at our drop-in last night.”
We would like to thank Clare and all of Clare’s lovely friends and neighbours who made this such a special day as well as Cerys for the delicious cake and Wayne and all at Unity in Diversity.
