Christmas giving

This year in conjunction with Swansea support groups Swansea Asylum Seeker support [SASS] and Unity in Diversity [UID] HBTSR are seeking unwrapped gifts from local Schools and Churches to give to people seeking sanctuary.

Sandra Morton Chair of Sass Wrote ‘The gifts from schools and HBTSR are very welcome and appreciated. Money is good but so impersonal. I think that it’s good for children to know that the gift/s they chose will be appreciated and used by another child, teenager or adult.

So, we would like gifts please. Could we have them unwrapped this year though. Last year, for the first time, we gave out tokens which they could use to choose their own presents (3-5 for the children, 3-4 for adults). It takes away the surprise but allows everyone to choose things that they really want.

hats, gloves (scarves for children aren’t as popular)
packets of pants, socks
hair bands, scrunchies etc
footballs, usually for the boys
pens, coloured pencils, felt tip pens, paint sticks, paper, sketch pads
modelling clay
craft kits
toy cars, emergency vehicles
superhero figures, Peppa pig, etc
dinosaurs
card games, e.g. snap, happy families, go fish, uno
flash cards, jigsaws
board games, dominoes, draughts, pick up sticks
baby toys
board books, picture books, books
activity books, puzzle books
teens — nail varnish, make up, lip balm
The presents most often chosen by adults were socks, pants, hand cream, after shave or body spray/perfume, gloves, hats.
Please thank everyone in advance for their kindness and help.’
