Newport Women’s group have a day out in Llangorse

Another memorable day with plans for more! A group of 19 women including Sarah and Claire and a baby visited for a day out in the country. It was an opportunity to celebrate as 3 had had their Leave to Remain in the last 2 weeks although one had waited over 9 years..

They arrived just after 11 and were welcomed by pupils from Llangorse school who brought some handmade flowers and cards for each person.

Hot drinks and biscuits were shared with the Thursday coffee group in Llangorse giving the opportunity to chat before heading down to the lake before rain set in.

Sadly it was too windy and too weedy to risk going out on the water but great fun was had sitting in boats and taking photos. Lots of laughter and joking.

Then we visited the interpretation centre where some thought the hut reminiscent of  home and others said it reminded them of St Fagans! Ducks were fed, horses stroked and lots of chat.

We returned to the hall by 1pm for lunch which had been pulled together by Melrose with some help from Karen and Emily.

Women obviously don’t travel empty handed and so lots of food was added and shared. We’d provided a vegetable stew with bread from  Alex of Pobl and salad from Lyndall of Bryn Celyn veg but stuffed vine leaves, many other delicacies were shared.

Eggs were purchased from Ellesmere trekking centre [ imagine having  an honesty box- That took some explaining to people used to Newport!] vegetables bought from Lyndall and then they were off to check out Tretower and Crickhowell on their way home.
