This information has been sent to all schools in Brecon, Gwernyfed and Crickhowell catchment areas, Franksbridge primary and Christ College. The plan is for a competition with results that will be announced and celebrated in Refugee week. We hope this will highlight the Schools of Sanctuary Programme.
Refugee Week Competition
Write a short story or poem or opinion piece OR Create a picture in any medium
Theme: Seeking Sanctuary
4 age groups: KS 1: 4-7, KS 2: 7-11, KS 3: 11-14, KS 4 and 6th form: 14-18, open to pupils in all schools in the Brecon, Gwernyfed and Crickhowell areas.
Maximum size for picture: 60cm x 40cm
Maximum length for writing: KS 1 and 2: 250 words, KS 3 and 4: 400 words. Entries can be in Welsh or English (and can include words in other languages too)
Prizes in each age category: 1st prize: £30, 2nd prize: £15, 3rd prize: £5
Entries to be in by Friday 19th May 2023
All prize winners will be notified and have their entries displayed during Refugee Week (19-25 June 2023)
The competition was devised by the HBTSR School of Sanctuary team and various people have agreed to be Judges for the English literary and art competitions and the Welsh literary entries
